STRIDER recently hosted special guest speaker Helena Harris of the Stall and Stable Podcast for a Professional Development Webinar to discuss best practices of Business Planning for Equestrian Professionals.
“Writing a business plan is never a waste of time”
– Helena Harris
Whether you realize it or not, if you work with horses for a living, you’re an Equestrian Professional. Sounds fancy, doesn’t it? Admittedly, it’s hard to consider oneself a “professional” when a lot of what we do includes moving poop from one place to another on a daily basis. But, manure management aside, if you want to make horses your livelihood, you need to plan your business around some very important principles that will help ensure that you are profitable and that your business model is sustainable. This webinar will introduce you to the key components of a Business Plan, and what goes into planning your business, whether you are just starting out, or already an old pro looking to grow or pivot your existing business.

Prior to her work in the equine industry, Helena was a product development and marketing manager for large IT companies in both New York and Boston. A small horse property on the New England coast is where Helena calls home. There she lives with her husband, teenage daughter, and a couple of punk cats. She has a 20 year-old Appaloosa gelding whom she hunts, and a young OTTB mare who is showing her the real meaning of horsemanship through humility. You can join her in the conversation about happy horsekeeping on the Stall and Stable show, which airs a new episode every two weeks on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio, HRN, or wherever you get your podcasts.
