Looking For An Easy Way to Process Rider Refunds?
With STRIDER, you’re always in control.
How to Refund Across Venmo, Credit/Debit Cards, or PayPal payments.
- The account owner must issue the refund themselves.
- All funds will refund out back to the original payment method used by the rider. It does not matter what payment method the rider/attendee choose at checkout- Venmo, credit/debit card, or PayPal.
- Remember that the processing fees will NOT be refunded. This is disclosed to the rider multiple times throughout checkout.
- StriderGold members are eligible for a dashboard refund service- reach out if you’d like it active.
StriderBasic members will:
1.) Find the day/time of the payment (if you are not the organizer, skip this step)
Inside your STRIDER organizer corner, go to the activity you want to issue a refund.
The time they entered your activity is the same as their payment time.
2. Log Into Your PayPal Account.
Click <More> Link.
3. Find The Transaction Date/Name You Wish to Refund.
Click the refund down arrow.
4. Select & Click “Refund.”
The Rider/Auditor will receive funds on the payment method used. It’s that simple!
Manage Rider Expectations – Best Practices
Keep in mind the transaction processing & handling fees are NOT refunded to a rider when you issue a refund. This decision is at the industry level and is disclosed throughout checkout
All the major financial processors stopped issuing fee refunds after their Covid losses. It doesn’t matter how the rider pays.
Basically, the payment/data processing portion of the transaction was properly completed even if you don’t hold the event.
Best Practice: Tell riders that you change a Refund Processing fee of at least $15-$20. It’s the same thing as a “restocking fee” in retail.
That will help ensure riders a) don’t expect a 100% refund of every penny and b.) don’t expect you to pay out of pocket for their processing costs.
