Deciding what to do next with your horse? Enter a schooling show!
1. They’re cost effective
… Saving money means we can enter more of them!
Many facilities & clubs will feature Year-End Awards as part of their series. That means you don’t have to spend $100s on BIG National Memberships to qualify for merit awards
2. They’re great for young horses & green riders
Building horse and ride confidence through pressure-free outings is an EXCELLENT use of your resources
3. They allow us to set reexamine goals & get new homework
Leaving your comfort zone as a rider is an invaluable tool for creating better habits & improving. Heading to a schooling show & getting out of your routine can fast-track your progress!
4. You can get new perspectives
Schooling shows provide us with myriad opportunities to learn from our surroundings & experience new methods that may prove helpful!
You may be able to…
- Observe your fellow riders’ warm-ups
- Chat with the judge after your ride for helpful insights (remember, you’ve paid for their time!)
- Expose your horse to a new and unfamiliar arena and/ or jumps
5. They allow us to practice before the Big Time
Schooling shows provide an opportunity to “test ride” different facilities and decide what venues you & your horse like before dropping the big bucks on a recognized horse show or HT. Whether you ride dressage, hunter/jumper, eventing, or Western pleasure, schooling shows are a great way to test your progress.
6. They’re FUN
From creative outfits to creative classes; equestrian schooling shows can remind us that friendly competition can accompany good times had by horses & riders.
