Full Transparency
No Accounting Stress. Each paid selection shows as a line item inside your transaction details.
Details at a glance.
Did you call the class the rider paid for “The Pink Pokka-Dotted Pony Derby“? Well, that’s what you’ll see in transaction details.
Checking On Rates
We proactively assume that you’ll be charged the standard industry processing rate by PayPal.
Our system is designed to do the math and conveniently collect enough from the rider to cover your digital processing fees.
However, if you’ve negotiated a lower rate or are a non-profit, the difference is yours to keep!
You can find your specific PayPal processing rates inside your account [here].
You do. We don’t hold your funds. Payment is deposited directly into your account in real-time as the rider completes payment on STRIDER.

How Will Our Treasurer Know the Payment Is for Strider Activity?
STRIDER’s integration with PayPal makes accounting easy for every transaction, no matter what payment method the rider chooses at checkout (Venmo, credit/debit card, or PayPal).
At any time, you can review each payment’s details directly in your PayPal account. Simply click on a transaction to view all related information, including the exact Strider event or activity name. This ensures your treasurer/accountant can easily identify the source and purpose of each payment.
Example: When you click on a transaction, you’ll see the Strider activity name clearly listed next to the payment details—whether it’s for a clinic, show, or event. No more wondering, “What does this emoji for a Venmo payment mean?” or “Why did Laura send me $50?”
Can we set up a PayPal account just for STRIDER?
Yes! PayPal allows you to have multiple accounts under the same EIN (Employer Identification Number). PayPal will automatically consolidate all accounting and IRS forms under the same EIN number, simplifying your tax and financial reporting.
This means you can create a separate PayPal business account specifically for your StriderPay transactions without affecting your other PayPal accounts.
Here’s a great Account Setup Checklist
TIP: If you’re part of a larger organization or non-profit, be sure to use the parent organization’s legal name, not your branch, local “Doing Business As” name or chapter’s name, when setting up the PayPal account. The EIN must match the organization’s legal name to make StriderPay approval a smooth process.
STRIDER does not collect or remit taxes for members. You’ll need to include any applicable taxes in your entry fees, such as state sales or e-marketplace taxes.
PayPal will issue you tax forms for all accounts that receive over $20,000 in a calendar year.
In order to comply with financial security and IRS reporting requirements, we require each organizer to be carefully vetted, and banking information confirmed in PayPal before you can use our StriderPay service.

Yes, if you want to. It’s available on our paid StriderGold level.
But you’ll probably get more entries with online payment.
(We’ve stopped using VHS tapes, too!)
Note: To ensure fairness, we encourage organizers to set a minimum $25 processing fee for the extra labor time involved in processing checks. Learn more here
To see exactly how the system works, simply start entering any activity on STRIDER. You’ll experience the same clear, secure and transparent checkout that riders see.
The small fee at checkout adjusts with the entry price you set, because online processing fees aren’t a flat percentage. All secure processors—Venmo, Stripe, PayPal, and major credit/debit cards—use the same structure: a small percentage plus a fixed per-transaction fee.
When an activity is priced very low, that fixed portion becomes a larger share of the total. The fee isn’t increasing—it’s simply more noticeable on small-dollar transactions.
In most cases, the fee is less than the cost of a Starbucks drink bought on the way to the barn , yet it replaces the significant time and labor required to process payments manually.
Offline rider payments are proven to add $35–$60 in administrative labor costs per entry—time spent confirming payments, depositing checks, logging receipts, fixing errors, and manually updating records.
By choosing digital payments, you’re keeping equestrian events efficient, affordable, and sustainable—while saving everyone time, money, and frustration. That’s real value for you.
