StriderPay: Simple, Transparent, and Secure Payment Processing
There’s no monthly fee to use StriderPay, and no surprise after-show invoices. Riders pay a modest processing/handling fee upfront to help cover your costs for digital processing and secure data protection.
This approach ensures that you can afford to offer secure transactions to riders, and provide a high-quality, well-organized, and sustainable experience for all.
How It Works
Payment processing is consistent across all platforms—whether it’s Stripe, PayPal, Venmo, or credit/debit cards. Every service charges a percentage fee plus a minimum fixed fee per transaction, meaning there’s no fixed, set percentage.
That’s how STRIDER works. On average, processing/handling fees add a modest 5-6% to the rider’s checkout cost. Riders find this reasonable for the convenience and security of digital payments.
You can find your specific PayPal processing rates inside your account [here].
How Much Does the Rider Pay?
The easiest way to see what riders pay is to start entering any activity on the Strider Platform. This will show you exactly what they see at checkout, and how it adjusts with the price an organizer sets for the entry fee. You’ll find that it’s a streamlined, cost-effective, and reasonable experience for riders.
Important Note:
We do not recommend advertising specific percentages to your club members, as they are often misunderstood as a fixed, set rate—and that’s not the case. The fixed fee component of digital transactions (whether it’s $0.49, $4.90, or another amount) will naturally disproportionally affect smaller transactions, making any percentage higher. This is simply how secure digital payments work.
You do. We don’t hold your funds. Payment is deposited directly into your account in real-time as the rider completes payment on STRIDER.
Here’s “How To Issue Refunds“.
Yes, if you want to. It’s available on our paid StriderGold level.
But you’ll probably get more entries with online payment.
(We’ve stopped using VHS tapes, too!)
Note: To ensure fairness, we encourage organizers to set a minimum $25 processing fee for the extra labor time involved in processing checks. Learn more here
Who Handles Reporting to the IRS?
STRIDER does not collect or remit taxes for members. You’ll need to include any applicable taxes in your entry fees, such as state sales or e-marketplace taxes.
Taxes
You are responsible for the collection and remittance of all taxes associated with funds processed through STRIDER.
PayPal will issue tax forms for all accounts that receive over $20,000 in a calendar year.
In order to comply with financial security and IRS reporting requirements, we require each organizer to be carefully vetted, and banking information must be confirmed in PayPal before you can use our StriderPay service.

We proactively assume that you’ll be charged the standard industry processing rate by PayPal. Our system is designed to do the math and conveniently collect enough from the rider to cover your digital processing fees. However, if you’ve negotiated a lower rate or are a non-profit, the difference is yours to keep!
